Nanjing, China This program is intended for Chinese language students who have completed at least 2 semesters of Chinese, and wish to gain a stronger command of their language skills and also wish to gain a fuller understanding of the Chinese culture. The cultural component of the program will be taught by GVSU faculty, and the language classes by staff of the Institute for International Students at Nanjing University, along with Grand Valley faculty.

SAN JOSÉ, COSTA RICA ¡Pura Vida! Join us on an adventure through Costa Rica, the geo and adventure tourism capital of Central America. During this program, we will participate in a variety of tourism experiences including rainforest hikes, white water rafting, and zip lining. We will explore tourism sites including Costa Rican National Parks, farm areas, cocoa plantations, museums and natural areas along the coasts of the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea.
Santiago, Dominican Republic This program is designed to give graduate students in the College of Education (COE) an opportunity to learn about social and cultural differences and apply their learning to systems of education in the U.S. while visiting the Dominican Republic.
This program takes place in Santiago, the second largest city in the Dominican Republic with almost 1 million people. The program is designed to prepare Movement Science, BMS and Pre-Professional Health majors to work with diverse populations by introducing students to the culture and education of one of the most beautiful countries in the Caribbean.
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic This program offers students the opportunity to expand their knowledge of the language and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world while living in the oldest European settlement in the Americas. Santo Domingo is at once a bustling urban center and a relic of the Spanish Caribbean colonial past.
Quito & the Galápagos Islands, Ecuador ¡Bienvenidos a Ecuador! Students will explore and experience the ecology and biodiversity of the cloud forest ecosystem of the equatorial Andes Mountains as well as spend 5 days on a research boat traversing the Galapagos archipelago, surveying, snorkeling, and hiking the islands, all the while being immersed in the South American, Incan and Amazonian indigenous cultures.
IBARRA, ECUADOR This program allows second year occupational therapy students the opportunity to replace their traditional fieldwork course with a cultural immersion experience in Ecuador.
