  14. FOR YOU TO CONSIDER AND COMPLETE
Serving as a Transitions Leader means that you will be facilitating a curriculum to new students. You may or may not be partnered with another facilitator. Please comment on your experience facilitating groups of your peers.

Serving as a Transitions Leader does not begin in August. It requires you to communicate with the Transitions Administration over the winter semester as well as attend training in February or March and in April. Serving as a member of the staff also means that you must commit to the training schedule and the entire program. Transitions must be your first priority during the week of August 24-29. It is recommended that you do not try to work other jobs or attend other trainings for various campus positions.

    Transitions Leader Training:
All leaders must participate in one workshops.

All leaders must participate in the Transitions Training

Transitions Training will be August 23-26 and Transitions will be August 26-28.

As a member of the staff, you will also be required to complete an evaluation.

You will also be asked to volunteer at Helping Hands and work one late evening during the Transitions program. This allows the new students to see friendly faces during the evening programming and to continue to ask questions regarding the Grand Valley experience.

As a Transitions Leader, you will be asked to communicate regularly over the summer months with the Office of Student Life and the Transitions Administration with regard to your housing situation, training updates, etc.

If a student who is selected for the staff does not communicate with the OSL and the Transitions Administration in a timely manner, you will be released from our staff.
  15. Please share any reasons why you would not be able to fully commit to the Transitions program.
  16. How are you upholding the Laker Values? How would you communicate their importance to the GV experience with your first year group?

  17. What is your favorite GV memory?
  18. Transitions Leaders must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the university. I authorize the Office of Student Life to review my cumulative grade point average and disciplinary records. I understand that this information will be kept confidential and is only to determine my eligibility as a leader.
