One-Time Service Opportunities
Connor’s Friends – Grand Rapids Children’s Museum
November 18, 2009 5:30pm-8:30pm
40 Volunteers needed (Specifically for Majors: Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, and Nursing). This is a special evening for Children and Families Affected by Autism. This free evening provides special planned sensory surroundings for autistic children to explore. Volunteers are needed to demonstrate parallel play and interact with the guests. All volunteers will undergo a short training the evening of this event to learn a little bit about children and families affected by Autism, what to expect that evening, and what their own role will be in the Connor’s Friends event.
Penguin Play exhibit set up – Grand Rapids Children’s Museum
November 23, 2009 9am -3pm
The Penguins are coming! Help us assemble the exciting Penguin Play: Slide into Winter exhibit. We need your help to set up a magical wintry village where kids can play. There is an icy penguin castle equipped with slippery slides that take children into icy ball pits, children love the feed the penguin game, and the penguin race game is filled with excitement for all. Help us bring the PENGUINS to the Museum for all to enjoy.
New Years Early Eve – Grand Rapids Children’s Museum
Thursday, December 31, 2009 6:00-8:00pm
15-18 volunteers. Celebrate New Year’s Eve with families…a little early! We’ll need volunteers to monitor the food area, maintain and make slushes, do face painting, help children decorate party hats and noise makers, and assist guests in finding their complimentary photo. And of course, all volunteers can help with the famous countdown and balloon drop at 7:30pm!
