Participate in the first ever GVSU King Day of Service! When: Saturday, January 16, 2010 Where: United Methodist Community House The United Methodist Community House (UMCH) is a non-profit agency based in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a mission to increase the ability of children, youth, adults and families to succeed in a diverse community. In order to fulfill this mission, The United Methodist Community House has been satisfying the needs of and offering opportunities for children, youth, families and seniors since it opened its doors in 1902. GVSU's MLK Day of Service will bring together 50 GVSU and 50 local high school students that participate in the GEAR UP program to make a 100% impact on UMCH and the greater Grand Rapids community. This service-learning experience will feature a light breakfast, a local speaker, networking/relationship building between local high school and GVSU students, meaningful service, and thoughtful reflection. Transportation to and from the service site will be provided.
