Date and Time
Friday, December 9, 2016
Description
A Workshop for Elementary School Teachers (especially Grades K-2), Math coaches, & Administrators
The CCSSM states that elementary school students need to be able to solve addition and subtraction word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing with the unknown in various places. Are your students able to readily understand and solve some of these types of word problems but not others? What makes some word problems more accessible or more challenging to children than other problems? How might word problems be effectively used to help children understand addition and subtraction and develop strategies for solving these problems?
Facilitator: Nancy K. Mack., Professor of Mathematics, GVSU
Location: C-1-130 Mackinac Hall, GVSU Allendale Campus
Dates: Wednesday, January 11 and February 1, 2017
Fee: $25 per person
