PRIME: Proportional Thinking Registration Deadline

Description
Teacher professional development focused on lesson study and the eight standards of mathematical practices.
Teachers will have:
· A deeper understanding of mathematics content and pedagogy.
· The ability to integrate the appropriate standards of practice in classroom instruction.
· The capacity to utilize an inquiry approach to instruction.
· The skill to utilize formative assessment data to guide and differentiate instruction.
To accomplish this goal, PRIME will help teachers understand and incorporate into their practice:
· The CCSS Eight Standards of Mathematical Practice
· Continued work to help students construct their understanding and orchestrate discussions.
· The importance of “collaboration” with other professionals to enhance practice.
· The development of lessons and units that maintain high cognitive levels through lesson study.
· Enhanced questioning strategies
Requirements:
· Attend all sessions.
· Teachers are required to participate in all aspects of program evaluations as requested.
SCECHs:
A minimum of 30 SCECHs will be available for participation in all sessions. The cost will be $15 or free, dependent on grant funds.

Cost:
FREE! This course is being offered through grant money.
PRIME provides districts with funding ($90/day) for substitutes for each day of training conducted during the school year (not available to non-public schools).
Additional opportunities to attend 5 local monthly PRIME team meetings after school with stipends.
