GVSU mourns the loss of Donna J. Lampe

Donna J. Lampe passed away on November 24, 2016 after a short but hard fought fight with cancer. Donna was born on the family farm in Conklin Michigan on March 7, 1936 to Anthony and Irene Poelma (Armock). She is survived by her loving husband, of 60 years, Frank; Her 3 sons Steven (Michelle), Samuel (Wanda) and Scott (Denise); Grandchildren Kaleigh (Andrew) Salata, Sammy, Crysta, Cassie, Joslin, Alexis, Austin, Isaac, Brianna and Great Granddaughter Lena; along with her brother Dick (Kathie) Poelma, Joanne Fortin and Dorothy (Bruce) Cumberworth and many Nieces and Nephews.

Donna worked in Banking and retired from Grand Valley State University after 20 years of service. She loved working at Grand Valley State University especially working and interacting with the students there. After retirement Donna and Frank moved to Florida where she was active at San Pedro Catholic Church and Holiday Park. She will be missed for her smile, luck in playing cards and all of the things she did to help.

A memorial service will be held at San Pedro Catholic Church, in North Port, Florida at 10:00 am on Thursday, December 1, 2016. The Rite of Christian Burial will be at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Marne Michigan on December 15th at 11:00 a.m. Family will greet friends and relatives one hour prior to mass.

Donna Lampe started her employment with Grand Valley State University in June 1978 as a Bookkeeper in the Accounting Office. She then transferred to the Bookstore in January 1991 and worked there until her retirement in June 1998.
