Individual Research

Application of first-principles calculations to study structural and electronic properties of diverse physical systems (from ferroelectric insulators to metals and alloys) in solid state. Topics studied:
  1. Prediction of superhardness in transition metal diboride alloys.
  2. Formation and stability, growth, and termination of growth of Ti-O-Y-based nanoclusters in Fe-based alloys.
  3. Possible structural transformation pathways in shape-memory NiTi and ZrCo alloys.
  4. Correlation between brittleness/ductility and relative phase stability in B2 intermetallics.
  5. Absorption of H2 molecules in graphite.
  6. Stress-induced phase transformations and brittleness in B2 intermetallics.
  7. Magnetism-driven phase transformations in Fe-Co systems.
  8. Diffusion of solutes in metallic matrices.
  9. Defect structures, competition of phases and ordering in intermetallics.
  10. Ferroelectricity in perovskite transition metal oxides and phase stability of small ferroelectrics.
