"Although most people think they are war conscious, are they really? - - So far removed from the far-flung battlefronts, can they be?" Major Oscar Mitchell, April 15, 1944

The declaration of war is among the most profound decisions a society can make. With it comes great consequences, sadness, and turmoil. To glorify or romanticize war is a common and perhaps necessary theme; however, there is no glory or romance in war. To censor or minimize the ugliness of war serves only to trivialize the sacrifices made by those who serve.
