Sara is proud alumnus of Grand Valley and brings a decade of student services experience to the Padnos College of Engineering and Computing Undergraduate Advising Center.  Having lived and worked in various regions of the United States, Sara is a strong advocate for student and academic development.  Sara believes that building connections to campus – through academics, through student organizations, through community – is a key factor to student success. 

Sara is happily and proudly married to a US Marine.  She has two very active children and two sneaky but brilliant pups, Max and Lady.  She cherishes family time, reading, and traveling.  Sara is addicted to chocolate and Star Burst Jelly Beans, and come August, may display a borderline obsession with Fantasy Football.


Carol Sloan

Carol spent several years in the automotive industry as an industrial engineer.  With this background, she hopes to assist PCEC students in identifying their goals and finding classes that are not only required, but interest them most.  Carol wants to be a resource, work with students to help them understand their potential, and encourage them to persist to graduation.

Carol has one dog and adores her!  She enjoys being active with her, biking, gardening, and reading.

Jessica is an alumnus of Kettering University and Grand Valley State University.  With her background in both engineering and higher education, she enjoys helping students realize the potential of their education outside of the expected opportunities and pathways.  She encourages students to utilize every college opportunity to help define their career and life goals, not just experiences inside the classroom.

Jessica and her husband, who is also an engineer, are enjoying the blessing of raising their two boys. During her down time, Jessica spends her time running, cooking, spending time outdoors and reading.


Mary Nuznov

Mary recently moved back to Michigan and is happy to be working as an academic advisor with Padnos College of Engineering and Computing. She received her B.A. in Communication Studies from Grand Valley State University in 2009 and her M.A. in Communication Studies from Ball State University in 2011. She is currently working on a graduate certificate in Academic Advising from Kansas State University. She previously worked at Indiana State University where she received a departmental distinguishment in academic advising. Outside working at universities, Mary has worked at several museums including The Henry Ford – Greenfield Village, Minnetrista and the Dearborn Historical Museum. Often her projects included fundraising, collections management, presenting, museum blogging and conducting educational tours.

When she isn’t working she enjoys reading mystery novels, camping, writing, seeing plays and knitting. Mary is an avid Harry Potter fan and a proud Hufflepuff.

Lora joined the Seymour and Esther Padnos College of Engineering and Computing to support Advising and Outreach activities as Secretary for Student Services. Prior to this she was a manufacturing Administrative Assistant for a local manufacturer of automotive dies, molds and automation systems. Her focus is to assist the PCEC Student Services staff as they expand their programs and activities to accomplish their goals.
