Accreditation and Certification

The Occupational Therapy Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the  American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), located at 4720 Montgomery Lane, PO Box 31220, Bethesda, MD   20824-1220.  AOTA''s telephone number is (301) 652-AOTA.  Graduates of the program will be able to sit for the national certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Certification
Following graduation from the MSOT Program, graduates must sit for the national certification examination for occupational therapists. This exam is administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. More information can be obtained from:

Upon successful completion of the certification examination, the individual will be an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). Many states also require licensure to practice. Information on specific state licensure requirements may be obtained from the Licensing Bureau from that particular state, the Occupational Therapy Association from that particular state, or from the American Occupational Therapy Association (301-652-AOTA)
