Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the history, culture, traditions, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Hispanic Heritage wee was first approved by President Lyndon Johnson and was expanded to a 30 day period by President Ronald Reagan in 1988. September 15 was chosen as the first day of celebration to signify the independence of several Latin American nations.
