The Mu Kappa Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi and the Laker Marching Band invite YOU to the Annual GVSU High School Band Day on Saturday, September 30, 2017 as the Lakers of Grand Valley take on the Cardinals of Saginaw Valley State University!

Come take a tour of the Allendale Campus and be apart of the action with the National Championship Laker Football Team as the 2017 GVSU Band Day musicians perform in a powerful mass band with the GVSU "Pride of the Midwest!"

2017 Band Day Registration

Registration Deadline

Sept. 25 @ 9am

The 2017 GVSU Band Day Registration is OPEN!

All participants and guests must register online. You can enter 1-15 registrants (participants and guests). If you have more than 15, then you will need to submit more than one time. Online registrations must be completed by the director or their appointee by 9:00am on Monday, September 25, 2017.

- 2017 Band Day Letter
- Registration Work Sheet to assist with online registration
- Map of GVSU Allendale Campus with marked parking (free) and drop off location

GVSU Band Day Costs

The cost of attendance for a student is $13. This covers the student's ticket to the football game.

Guests can request football tickets ($13/per person) for the game through the online 2017 GVSU Band Day Registration site. Every guest attending the football game will need to purchase a ticket.

Students and Guests can request a meal ticket ($10/per person) and/or an official GVSU Band Day T-Shirt ($7/per person) through the online 2017 GVSU Band Day Registration form. Both the meal and t-shirt are optional. All who are purchasing a football ticket or dinner ticket must register through the GVSU Band Day Online Registration by Monday, September 25, 2017.

No additional Official Band Day T-Shirts or Dinner tickets can be purchased after Monday, September 25, 2017.

Refunds will be honored until Monday, September 25, 2017.

Payment

Payments will be accepted by mail (encouraged) before Monday, September 25 or at the Band Day Check-in on Saturday, September 30.
All participants and guests must be paid in-full on or before Saturday, September 30 to participate.

Check In

Band Day Check In is from 10:00am - 1:00pm at the Performing Arts Center practice field.

All materials (Music, T-Shirt, Tickets for students and Tickets for Guests) will be handed out at Check In.

Dinner

We offer a Pizza and Salad dinner to students and guests. A meal ticket ($10/per person) can be requested through the online 2017 GVSU Band Day Registration form. The meal is completely optional.

If you choose to not purchase a meal ticket, other food options are offered by GVSU Campus Dining. See Campus Dining for more information on alternative food options.


Music

Each band can purchase the following musical selections that will be performed during the 2017 Band Day Halftime Show or music will be provided the day of the event:

Good to be Alive, arr. Tom Wallace ($65)
Bang, Bang, arr. Tom Wallace ($80)

Instruments

ALL participants must bring their own instrument or flag, lyre and flip folder. GVSU will not provide any instrument or flag, lyres or flip folders for the Band Day Event.

GVSU will transport any instrument cases to the field for the participants. All cases taken to the field must be picked up after the half-time performance.

Uniform Information

Participants should wear their HS Band Uniform at the performance.

Color Guard Videos

Color Guard videos of the Band Day song selections will be posted on September 1, 2017.

 

Majorette Information

  1. Majorettes will be placed around the field and not as a group.
  2. Each majorette will prepare your OWN routine for each song. 
  3. Song #1 - Good To Be Alive
    • This song will feature one (1) baton work.
  4. Song #2 - Bang, Bang
    • This song will feature two (2) baton work if possible or one (1) baton work.

10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

Band Day Check-In at Performing Arts Center Marching Band Field

Optional guided tour of Allendale Campus or interviews with LMB members.

12:00 PM - 1:30 PM

Laker Marching Band Rehearsal at Performing Arts Center Marching Band Field. Open rehearsal. ALL encouraged to attend!

1:30 PM - 3:00 PM

Mandatory Rehearsal with Laker Marching Band

3:30 PM - 5:00 PM

Pizza Dinner at field and change into band uniform

5:30 PM

Line up with the Laker Marching Band behind the PAC field to prepare for march to Lubber's Stadium

6:00 PM

Arrive at Lubber's Stadium

7:00 PM

Kick off - Saginaw Valley State University vs. GVSU
