Major Requirements for Second Degree Students

Completion of the baccalaureate in nursing requires:

1. General university requirements as identified in the General Academic Regulations section of the catalogue for the year of admission to the university.

2. Required core courses with a minimum grade of C (2.0).
In order to progress in the nursing program, a grade of C (2.0) is required in core and nursing courses.

3. A grade less than a C (2.0) is considered failing, in all required nursing courses (Designated by NUR). Students who fail more than one nursing course will not be allowed to remain in the program.

Required Coursework - Second Degree Program for Pre-Nursing Students

The Kirkhof College of Nursing offers a BSN and an articulated BSN/MSN option for persons with a baccalaureate degree in another discipline. This option is designed for part-time or full-time study. The required plan of study can be shortened by transfer of credits.

Students interested in this option must be admitted to Grand Valley State University before they can be considered for admission to the nursing major. Students must be admitted to the Nursing major. Admission is selective and highly competitive.
