September 09, 2016

A message from Dr. Danielle Lake:

As a part of the Division of Inclusion and Equity’s mission to build capacity for intersectional, social justice based community-engagement at GVSU, the Division is cosponsoring a new colloquia series on community-based learning at GVSU.

  1. The first session—Community Engagement: The What and the Why—is on September 30th at 10 am in 302 E Devos and features the Michigan Campus Compact Director Robin Lynn Grinnell.
  2. The second session—Course Design for CBL—will help participants understand what they will need to do to acquire a CBL designation for GVSU courses (among other topics). This session is on October 14th at 10 am in 502C Devos.
  3. The third session on November 11 at 10 am (302 E Devos) focuses on Preparing students for CBL(personally, professionally, and civically). It features the Women’s Center Director Jessica Jennrich and Professor of Education Susan Carson.

Please register through Sprout. More information can be found here.

This series may also help participants engage faculty from across GVSU in exploring future possible connections between the work of the Division centers and engaged GVSU curriculum.

Dr. Lake, assistant professor of Liberal Studies, is a Faculty Associate in the Division of Inclusion and Equity.
