 Greg Green, PhD

Dr. Greg Green currently serves as Program Director for the Health Professions undergraduate program at Grand Valley State University. In addition to his military health care and private sector experience, Greg has served as a member of the faculty and Department Chair of the Safety Studies Department at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. His professional service includes serving as a consultant on the first Jamaican occupational safety act and a college safety and health curriculum in Jamaica. He has been active with the National Safety Council and received their Distinguished Service to Safety Award, the Council’s highest individual award. He is a member of the American Public Health Association, the American Conference of Government Industrial Hygienists, and the American Society of Safety Engineers. Dr. Green has spoken at local, state, national and international conferences on areas related to public health and occupational safety including the Oxford Roundtable in England where he presented a paper entitled “The Effect of Federal Bioterrorism Funding on Local Public Health.”
 
His educational background includes Madison General Hospital School of Nursing, a BS from San Jose State University in Business Administration, an MS in Safety from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Curriculum and Instruction.
 
Dr Green’s research interests include public health emergency response planning, occupational health and safety, and the development of online health-related courses for working professionals.
 
Greg’s recreational interests include travel, fishing, rodeo, sprint care racing, and Badger football and hockey.

 

Ranelle Brew, Ed.D, MS, CHS
Assistant Professor

Ranelle is an Assistant Professor for the Health Professions program. Her Doctoral and double Master degrees are from Columbia University in Education and Health Sciences respectively. Her doctoral research included Adolescent Asthma Health Education in New York City public schools through collaboration between New York Presbyterian Hospital and Columbia University.
She has worked in health care for over a decade in various settings including clinically, within the public school system, in geriatric health and fitness as well as education.
Dr. Brew’s research interests include international healthcare and worksite health promotion programming. She comes to GVSU with several years of teaching experiences in New York City and the Greater Grand Rapids area most recently.
Dr. Brew is currently teaching courses in Medical Terminology, Introduction to Health and Healthcare Management. She is looking to begin an international health care study abroad program for health professions students to Africa in the near future.
In her spare time Dr. Brew enjoys worldwide travel opportunities, outdoor athletic activities such as skiing and tennis as well as scrapbooking.     

 

 

Michael Wambach, M.S., R.R.T., Ph.D.
Assistant Professor

Dr Wambach’s professional background is health care (Respiratory Therapy), which he taught for five years at the State University of New York at Stony Brook and directed the Respiratory Therapy Program for the University of Pittsburgh. His experiences also include grant writing and administration through the State of Michigan and federal OSHA. Mike has performed consulting and training for many West Michigan companies like Meijer, Herman Miller, Stryker, and Spartan Stores. In 1994 he started the health care administration program for Davenport University in Grand Rapids, MI and in 2000 he became director of faculty development for Davenport. Mike also worked as faculty development specialist for Baker College Online and was state-wide lead trainer for the Michigan Community Blood Centers.
 
Mike earned an Associates Degree (Respiratory Therapy) at the Milwaukee Area Technical College, a Bachelor's of Science (Cardiorespiratory Sciences), a Masters of Science (Health Sciences), both from SUNY Stony Brook, and a Ph.D. in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University.
 
His research interests center in the processes of health sciences education, organizational culture, and online learning.
