Configura Programming InternAlina
Experience Information
Employer: Configura Description of the OrganizationConfigura creates Parametric Graphical Configuration (PGC) software solutions for leading international companies. The software's origin stems from the office furniture industry but the technology is perfectly suited for other industries that deal in configurable, complex products requiring space planning. Configura works with manufacturers to create PGC-based software solutions that improve the total sales cycle. The PGC technology is used to develop a custom solution which includes: A unique interface with parametric, rules-based symbols Photo-realistic design and rendering Complete, accurate specifying and ordering Description of the Tasks/Projects CompletedI worked on writing the code for a ceiling lights extension in CET Designer. The ceiling has a grid of tiles with various light types and light configurations available. It is used in space planning to create a more realistic image. Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The ExperienceI gained a deeper understanding of how object-oriented languages work and learned some techniques to make my code simple and clean. I was able to have lots of practice starting with a big problem, breaking it down into bite-size chunks, and methodically working through it. Favorite Part of the ExperienceMy favorite part about this co-op experience was creating a useful product. When I went to a training class for the software, I was able to interact with some of the designers from commercial furniture companies that would actually be using the software. It was very helpful to get a clear idea of the goal of the code I was writing. I enjoy problem solving with code, but it is even more exciting when the problem solving yields a useful product. How the Experience Influenced Future Career GoalsIn my career, I want to be working on projects that I care about. This experience solidified that desire. I feel it is very important to be excited about what I am producing, as I was in this co-op experience.
