Description of the Organization
This was App State's first ever time having a campus recreation intern. The whole internship was a new experience for them, which was cool because I was the guinea pig for the experiment.
Description of the Tasks/Projects Completed
I worked with all six programs within the Campus Recreation. I did things with inventory, budgeting, planning outdoor trips, risk management mapping, closing the facilities, and more. I got a wide variety of things to learn within the office setting.
Skills/Knowledge Gained Through The Experience
I learned organizational skills and the importance of being organized. I also learned leadership skills and how to be professional in a professional setting. I think the biggest thing was learning more about the everyday office work.
Favorite Part of the Experience
My favorite part was getting to meet new people and form new connections and relationships with people. Growing my network was huge because many of those people have connections to schools down south, which can open the door for many other opportunities down the road.
How the Experience Influenced Future Career Goals
This experience has shown me that I have picked the correct career path. I wanted to make sure I loved campus recreation rather loving the campus rec at GV. I enjoyed every minute of it, which is proof that it is where I belong.
