Eligibility & Enrollment

The Solar Garden is a large solar installation that any Consumers Energy electric customer, both residential and business, can subscribe to. If you are interested in reducing your carbon footprint and want to support renewable energy, you are eligible to subscribe to the Solar Garden.

  • Interested customers can subscribe to 1/2 Kilowatt Solar Blocks of capacity. 
  • Average household has a maximum subscription of 10-12 Solar Blocks.
  • If you change service locations after you have enrolled in the program, your subscription can easily move with you. Or, if you move out of the service territory, you will automatically be removed from the program without penalty.

There are over 400 subscribers as of May 17, 2016.


Flexible Payment Options

By subscribing to Solar Gardens, you will pay an additional monthly fee on your electric bill to cover the cost of building and maintaining the solar facilities. A solar energy credit, based on the amount of energy generated, and subscription payment will be applied to your monthly energy bill.
