Autocam Engineering Scholarship

Established by Autocam Corporation under the leadership of President and CEO John C. Kennedy III and COO of Global Operations John Buchan. Autocam is a worldwide manufacturer of precision machined components for the automotive and medical instruments industries. Kennedy attributes the company’s success to its emphasis on continuous process improvement  efforts and employee involvement.

Autocam Corporation would like to encourage high school graduates interested in practical engineering and educate young people about the changes in the advanced manufacturing field that have taken place over the last 20 years. By providing scholarship support to students from Michigan who may have limited exposure to manufacturing, they hope to raise awareness among high school and college aged populations about advanced manufacturing and ultimately improve the image of manufacturing that is portrayed in popular culture.

Beginning fall 2012 gifts from Autocam will provide full-time tuition scholarship(s) to include up to 18 credit hours per semester and fees required for completing the engineering degree requirements. Scholarship will support a sophomore student for up to three years (9 semesters) and will renew between academic years automatically provided the student continues to make satisfactory academic progress in the School of Engineering.

To be eligible, a student must:

  1. Must be a current freshman enrolled full-time in the Seymour and Esther Padnos College of Engineering and Computing, expecting to complete the engineering fundamentals during the next academic year.

  1. Recipients must declare a major in engineering and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale and be making satisfactory academic progress in the Engineering Program to continue receiving this scholarship.
