Joseph Spruit Engineering Scholarship

Grand Valley State University Seymour and Esther Padnos College of Engineering and Computing School of Engineering

The School of Engineering offers a four-year program leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E). The program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Grand Valley’s B.S.E. degree program has a wide community of industrial support. A competitive scholarship has been established in memory of Joseph Spruit. The Joseph Spruit Engineering Scholarship is made available to students entering the School of Engineering as a freshman or as a transfer student from another college or university.

To be eligible, a student must have:

  1. applied for admission to Grand Valley State University prior to December 31
  2. declared engineering or pre-engineering as a major
  3. a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better in high school (if an entering freshman) or at   another accredited college or university (if a transfer student)
  4. an ACT math sub-score of at least 27 and an ACT composite score of at least 25, or an SAT math score of at least 665 and an SAT total of at least 1220 (entering freshman)
  5. at least 6 units of high school math and science
  6. submitted the FAFSA form (applicants must demonstrate financial need)
  7. submitted the scholarship application by January 31

 

Recipients will be selected by the Engineering Scholarship Committee from those students who meet the above qualifications and have been admitted to the University. The scholarships are renewable on an annual basis, for a total of eight semesters, provided the recipient continues to maintain the following level of scholarship:

  1. is enrolled as a full-time student in engineering, except for the co-op semesters
