2017-2018 Peer Educators
is a senior in his fourth year at Grand Valley. He is a psychology major with a biology minor and plans on being a psychiatrist. This is his second year being a peer educator for the counseling center and in his free time he enjoys reading, watching movies, and playing video games.
Megan is a junior majoring in Clinical Exercise Science with a minor is Psychology. She plans to attend grad school for Occupational Therapy. In her free time she enjoys playing tennis and volleyball, doing arts and crafts, volunteering, and drinking coffee. She is excited to be a part of the counseling center and promoting its services, as well as changing negative ideas surrounding mental health.
Tanisha Islam is currently a junior at Grand Valley State University. She is studying psychology with a minor in sociology, and is in the process of completing the Intercultural Training Certificate. She is an international student from India, and her hometown is a city called Kolkata. She has been living in Allendale to attend GVSU since Fall 2015. She is an active member of Ace of Clubs which is a student group under the Milton E. Ford LGBT Resource Center. In her free time, Tanisha enjoys writing, performing and listening to music, and learning foreign languages.
Ashley is a senior at Grand Valley State University studying Psychology with minors in Statistics and Women Gender and Sexuality Studies. She plans on pursuing a Masters in Public Health. She loves crafting, public speaking, and practicing yoga. She can't wait to promote services Counseling Center services this year and challenge the stigma surrounding mental health!
Erin is a sophomore at Grand Valley State University, pursuing a double major in Cell and Molecular Biology and Behavioral Neuroscience. After graduation, she plans on applying to MD-PhD programs, and pursuing a career in neurology. Erin is originally from Canton, Michigan. In her free time, she enjoys reading, biking, cooking, and engaging in community service.
