Adding an Endorsement to a Current Teaching Certificate
Grand Valley offers “undergraduate” endorsements and “graduate” level endorsements for those who already hold a valid Michigan teaching certificate.
Undergraduate endorsements:

The undergraduate endorsements include the same teachable majors and minors offered to undergraduate students completing their initial certification.

Elementary: Elementary Certificate holders may add a teachable major endorsement in “Integrated Science”, “Language Arts”, “Mathematics” or “Social Studies”. Elementary Teachers can also add a mathematics minor endorsement at Grand Valley.
Secondary: Secondary Certificate holders can add any of the undergraduate secondary teachable majors and minors. View the teachable majors and minors that are available.
Specific course work requirements can be accessed through the link above, or from the web page for the specific academic department offering the major/minor, such as the English department for “Language Arts”.
Graduate Endorsements:
Grand Valley also has many “graduate level” endorsements for elementary and secondary certificate holders. The graduate level endorsements are offered through the Graduate College of Education and are normally completed within a Masters of Education program. However, one can normally complete the endorsement before completing the entire MED program.
