There may be situations where a student may wish to voluntarily seek experiences related to a course at GVSU.  A volunteer donates their time and service without contemplation of pay or course credit.  This may include service activities or attendance at performance or conference related to their field that may expand their understanding or experience.

If faculty make suggestions or recommendations for activity outside the classroom, it must be made clear whether or not the activity will be considered in making grade determinations.  If the activity counts toward credit consult the field activity section.  Consult the Risk Management Department/University Counsel Office for specific questions at (616) 331-2067.
