College of Liberal Arts and Sciences GHS Labeling Program

GHS Labeling

The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) is an internationally agreed-upon standard managed by the United Nations.  It was set up to standardize hazardous material classification and labeling.  The core of the program set standardized testing criteria, universal warning pictograms, templates for Safety Datasheets.  When chemicals are inventoried in the Chemical and Supply Information Management System, they are flagged and college staff will update the SDS and the GHS information.  This information is then utilized to preformat GHS labels for faculty and staff use.
