Darlene serves as the Director of Student Services for the College of Health Professions. She received her bachelor’s degree from Calvin College in Sociology and Recreation, obtained her Therapeutic Recreation (TR) certification, and went on to get her master’s degree in Adult and Higher Education from Grand Valley State University (GVSU). Her career started in Toronto, ON where she worked as a YMCA program coordinator. She went on to get her TR certification while working outpatient pediatrics at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Center. Her career path led her to 10 years of International Student Admissions at her alma mater Calvin College. In 2006 she started working in her current position within the College of Health Professions at GVSU. She declares that her claim to fame is bicycling 1900 miles across the USA. She continues to enjoy bicycling, travel to her relatives in the Netherlands, and trips back to her family in Canada.
Michelle has served as an academic advisor in the College of Health Professions Student Services Office since 2008. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services and graduated from GVSU in 2008 with a Master’s Degree in College Student Affairs Leadership. Her higher education career started at Kellogg Community College back in 2002. Favorite things to do include; gardening, camping and a newly acquired skill of fishing.
Brianne has served as an academic advisor in the College of Health Professions Student Services Office since 2011. She graduated from GVSU in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and in 2011 with a Master’s Degree in College Student Affairs Leadership. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
Mike serves as an academic advisor in the College of Health Professions Student Services Office. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies and Master’s Degree in College Student Affairs Leadership from GVSU. After earning his Master’s Degree, he worked as an academic advisor at Illinois State University. He worked specifically with incoming freshman and undecided students. Upon returning to West Michigan, he fills most of his time watching sports related programs, being outdoors, and spending time with family.
Valinda is the professional support staff for the College of Health Professions Student Services Office. She also serves as the admissions coordinator for the College of Health Professions. Many people know Valinda as an Apple products aficionado. In her free time, she spends time with her son and daughter, members of her congregation and her family.
Melanie serves as a graduate assistant for the Student Services Office in the College of Health Professions. In 2013 she received her Bachelor of Arts in Health Communication from Grand Valley State University and is currently in her second year of the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program at GVSU. Melanie hopes to specialize in pediatric physical therapy, with in emphasis in neuromuscular disorders. In her spare time Melanie enjoys hiking, boating, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Sarah works as a Graduate Assistant in the College of Health Professions Student Services Office. She recently received her Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences from GVSU. Sarah is currently in her first year of pursuing a Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at GVSU and wants to work with athletes in the future.
Madie works a Graduate Receptionist in the College of Health Professions Student Services Office. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science with emphasis in health fitness and a minor in Physical Education from GVSU. Madie will be going into her second year of the Masters of Public Health Program at GVSU. Her emphasis in the program is health promotion. Madie hopes to work within the field of corporate wellness upon finishing her degree. In her free time, she enjoys running, working out, being outdoors, being active, and spending time with family and friends.
