Google Meet

What is Google Meet?

Use Google Meet to hold video meetings with people inside or outside of GVSU. You can join from a computer or a mobile device.

Why use Google Meet at GVSU?

Meet makes it easier than ever to start and join video meetings from mobile devices or a computer. Schedule a meeting using Google Calendar or start an instant meeting and invite people after you join the call.

How is Google Meet being offered at GVSU?

Google Meet is part of GVSU's G Suite for Education so you will need a GVSU Gmail account to create a video meeting. If you do not have an "@mail.gvsu.edu" account, you can use our new self-service website that allows faculty and staff to request a Google account. Users will no longer need to email auth@gvsu.edu except in special situations.

Is Google Meet available for Mac?

Yes, Meet supports the current macOS version and its two (2) previous major releases.

What browser should I use when using Google Meet?

Google Meet works with Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Apple Safari. If your browser doesn't support Meet video meetings, you can dial in using the phone number and PIN, if provided by the meeting organizer.

NOTE: Meet has limited support in Microsoft Internet Explorer® 11, Microsoft Edge provides a better Meet experience. If you want to use Internet Explorer, you will need to install a plugin for Meet.

*New Feature - view everyone in a meeting!

A new free Chrome extension called "Google Meet Grid View" has just been made available that allows you to see everyone in a meeting, no matter how many people there are. Normally when you are in a Google Meet video conference, you can only show at most 4 people at a time.
