Photography Senior selected for this year's Summer Library Scholars Program

Photography Senior Rachel Britton was selected for this year's GVSU Library Summer Scholars Program. The program provides students with the opportunity to have an intensive research experience using the library’s resources and collections. Mentored by a librarian faculty mentor, the scholar will develop and enhance skills as a means to engage in a disciplinary, scholarly conversation. The program is available to undergraduate students at GVSU who have not yet completed the requirements for graduation. It is expected that the student will be enrolled at GVSU as a full-time undergraduate for at least one full semester of study beyond the period of the award (i.e. the following Fall semester).

Rachel Britton focuses on unconventional themes and approaches to making images. Their work covers digitally manipulating the body, filling industrial spaces with light, portraiture, and fashion, while drawing inspiration from street style, club kids, alternative culture, and literature. Rachel was featured in Billboard Magazine and has recently won a Gold and two Bronze prizes from the American Advertising Federation of West Michigan, commonly known as "Addy's".
