Jesselyn Kanniainen Watercolor
"Plerogyra sinuosa" is a type of coral that coral enthusiasts commonly known of but the mainstream does not. It's "jelly-like" unlike some of the coral most people know. It gently moves in water by itself, because like all coral, it is not a plant but in fact an animal. This species of coral is currently currently under "near threatened" therefore not too terribly in trouble, but nonetheless under a threatened species. The first time I saw bubble coral was in an aquarium store in Grand Rapids, MI under a black lit tank. It was unreal, strange, but also almost ethereal. I hope to convey the wonder of this coral in this piece that I saw and felt.
