Transition Leaders

Transitions Leaders are undergraduate volunteers that facilitate sessions for new students about the mission, vision, & values of the university. 

Transitions Leaders use their personal experiences & their own transition to university life while facilitating the educational sessions.

 

Transition Leaders 2017

The staff varies between 175-200 student leaders each year.

Freshmen students will meet their Transition Leaders at their first Residential Floor Meeting or at the Commuter Student Welcome. 

Go Team

There are 8-10 student leaders, referred to as the "Go Team," who assist in coordinating the large volunteer Transition Leader staff.  The Go Team provides Transitions Leaders with the resources to educate & welcome our first year students. Below are the Go Team Leaders for 2018!

Resident Assistants

The RA’s primary role is to create community and serve as a resource for the students living on campus. RA’s are invaluable and have received extensive training in a variety of topics that help them to be a “go-to” resource for students, and will serve as a mentor for students throughout the year.  Resident Assistants and Transitions Leaders will work collaboratively to provide the support needed to make the incoming students and the Transitions program as a whole, successful. 

Transition Leaders are charged with leading their small groups and facilitating content during the program, while Resident Assistants will play a year-long role to support their communities and have extensive training to support students through challenges, enforce policies, and build community. There is a total of 115 RA’s that serve 6,100 residential students on campus.

Office of Student Life Transitions Planning Team

This group of full-time Student Life staff meets throughout the year and serves as the strategic planners of the program including marketing, curriculum development with campus stakeholders, assessment, logistics, facility and dining coordination, faculty involvement and more.
