SPRING BREAK FACULTY/STAFF WRITING RETREAT

Location: Lake Ontario Hall, Rm 120 Allendale, MI

Duration: Tuesday - Friday, March 5-7, 2019

Day Schedules:

Tuesday @ 9 a.m.-4 p.m. *Structured writing time with free lunch hour, paid for by Writing Center

Wednesday @ 9 a.m.-4 p.m. *Structured writing time with free lunch hour, paid for by Writing Center

Thursday @ 9 a.m.-2 p.m. *Structured writing time with free lunch hour, paid for by Writing Center

Registration Information:
Please submit your registration form by February 25th @ 5 p.m. (for the Spring Break Retreat). Please note that while faculty working on dissertations will be given first priority in registering for the retreat, there will likely be plenty of room available to faculty and staff working on other projects.

SPRING BREAK PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP

Friday @ 9 a.m.-12 p.m. *Assignment and Syllabus peer workshop/review session

WRITING RETREAT MATERIALS

Details:

  • Patrick Johnson, Director of the Fred Meijer Center for Writing, & Jerry Stinnet, Director of Writing Across the Curriculum, will facilitate the retreat.
  • The Center will provide a laptop computer for your use, as well as writing resources and goal-setting activities to keep you focused.
  • The Center will ensure you' are well-nourished and alert by providing snacks and drinks throughout the day and lunch at noon.
  • Participants are expected to spend at least seven hours per day on writing or writing-related activities and join other participants for lunch each day.

  • Form to be filled out ahead of the retreat to help participants gather their ideas and materials and show up ready to write. Daily Reflection Form
