Macquarie University (MU) in located in Sydney, Australia, one of the world’s largest and most beautiful cosmopolitan cities. You will enjoy the best of both worlds with many activities offered in Sydney’s booming city life, as well as the relaxing nearby beaches and Sydney harbor. This vibrant city offers a little something for everyone. Macquarie University has received the highest ratings by the Australian Government's Excellence in Research for Australia in biological sciences, environmental sciences, earth sciences, physical sciences, psychology and cognitive sciences.
With over 32,000 students, Macquarie University is considered one of Australia’s leading universities. Macquarie University gets its reputation as the “Innovative University” because of its flexible learning programs and support services. Macquarie University has extensive experience in welcoming hundreds of international students to campus each year. Students will find a full range of support services available at MU.
Students will take 4 subjects at MU during the semester. Students interested in an internship opportunity may be eligible to take 1 subject as an internship course.

Where will I live?
Macquarie University offers accommodation to all study abroad students. Students have a choice of on-campus housing or nearby apartments. Who is eligible to participate?
Students must be degree-seeking, have attended at least one semester at GVSU, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 at the time of application. Although a 2.5 GPA is required, it is recommended that students have a 3.0 GPA at the time of application.

Students participating in a partnership program will either register for courses that have been pre-approved courses or will go through a Course Approval Process.
General Education Requirements: This program is ideal for students needing to fulfill the Issues General Education requirement, and World Perspectives. With prior approval, students may also earn credit for General Education Foundations requirements.

Estimated Cost: $19,446 - $20,646 (per semester)

Students typically pay for study abroad through a combination of financial aid, personal funds, scholarships/grants and alternative loans. Early application for financial aid is strongly recommended.

EXCHANGE STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP: $500 - $1,100. Macquarie University offers a total of (4) exchange student placements each year (subject to change) equal to amount of program fee.
STUDY ABROAD SEMESTER GRANT: The average study abroad semester grant award is $500 per semester. Students who complete an online study abroad application by the designated priority deadline, have a 2.5 GPA and a FAFSA on file, may be eligible for a study abroad grant ranging from $500-$1,750/semester. Due to limited funding, not all eligible students will receive a grant.
