Description

Are you interested in studying abroad on the Tanzania Math Education program? Attend this upcoming info session!

About the Program:

Arusha, Tanzania - This program is open to all majors, but has a special focus on the school setting in Tanzania. Tanzania is located in eastern, sub-Saharan Africa and is home to the famous Mount Kilimanjaro. This program will provide students the opportunity to study issues in mathematics and general education both in the United States and Tanzania. They will learn from and interact with teachers and students in a culture different than their own. Furthermore, students will come to appreciate the rich cultural and historical contributions of this country.

In addition, students will be immersed in the language and culture of Tanzania. Students will participate in daily Swahili lessons, given by a local Swahili instructor as well as have opportunities to experience the beauty of the country during three weekend excursions that include a safari in the Serengeti and Ngorogoro Crater National Park, a walking safari in Arusha National Park and village visit and  a day climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro. Another experience includes volunteering at a local orphanage. During these visits students will interact with the children by organizing games, helping with school-work, or any chores requested by the orphanage director.
