2022 Cost Breakdown for Seoul National University of Science & Technology (SeoulTech)

This is the estimated budget for this study abroad program. It serves as an estimated cost of attendance for your semester or year. Students often pay for study abroad through a combination of financial aid, personal funds, scholarships, grants, and alternative loans. The total amount listed as the Total Program Cost is the maximum amount of financial aid that can be awarded to you by GVSU. This total program cost does not reflect the amount of aid you will qualify for, rather, it serves as the cap on what can be awarded.

IS 380 Course Fee

Paid to GVSU. The IS 380 course fee is $28 per credit hour. Participants of this program will register for 12 credits of IS 380.

Chubb insurance

Chubb health insurance is required for all study abroad participants. The cost is $1.46 per day. This estimate is based on 120 days. The actual program dates may vary.

Passport fees $200. Visa for South Korea is currently $45. These fees are subject to change without notice. Alien Registration card 30,000KRW or around $25.

Flight and gr. Tranportation

Paid to Airline Provider. Students should inquire whether SeoulTech will be able to meet you at the airport. In the past this service was available for a small fee of around 16,000 KRW ($12 USD)

Health insurance

SeoulTech requires all students to sign up for a health insurance which costs approx. $150. The Chubb insurance policy that students are also required to obtain offers different coverage that may not be included in the health insurance provided by SeoulTech.

Housing

Housing fee is paid directly to SeoulTech. The cost ranges based on your placement. The current cost of the Sunglim dorm is around $625 for male dorm, $565 for women's dorm. SeoulTech can only guarantee housing in Sunglim. Many past students requested the International dorm, but space is limited.

Meals

SeoulTech offers students a meal plan option along with their housing. This estimate is the current estimate for 3 meals per day in the student cafeteria.

Personal Expenses

On-site personal expenses including local transportation, cell phone purchase, and basic living necessities. This is based on about $115 per week for 14 weeks.

$16,231 (estimated cost for out-of-state students who do not receive the tuition differential scholarship)

Out-of-state students who receive a GVSU tuition differential scholarship will be able to use that scholarship towards the cost of this program. Exception: international students will not have access to the tuition differential scholarship for use towards the cost of study abroad.

*Based on in-state, upper-division tuition rates for 12-15 credits. If you complete more than 15 GVSU credits during your semester abroad, tuition charges for the additional credit above 15 will be billed to your GVSU student account after you return and PIC completes the transfer of credit.

**The cost of any study abroad program depends to a large extent on the participant’s personal spending habits and lifestyle. Personal travel, entertainment, gifts, souvenirs, and other types of personal spending are costs not reflected in the above estimates.
