Steven Lipnicki joined Grand Valley State University in 2000 and now serves as Assistant Dean of Students. In this role, he interfaces and collaborates with students, faculty, and departmental staff to assess and improve services with special attention toward graduate students, military veterans, and adult students. Lipnicki works closely with the Graduate School, Center for Adult and Continuing Studies, Grand Valley’s Veterans Network, and supporting student organizations including the Graduate Student Association and Student Veterans of America chapter at Grand Valley.
Lipnicki relocated to Michigan in 1987 and earned his master’s degree in Adult and Continuing Education from Michigan State University. His undergraduate degree was completed at the State University of New York, College at Oneonta. Lipnicki serves on Grand Valley State University’s MLK Executive Planning Committee, LGBT Resource Center Advisory Board, Team Against Bias, Behavior Team, Graduate Council (ex-officio), and leads several divisional initiatives. He is also active in the community through his work with Michigan Community Blood Centers, YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, Heart of West Michigan United Way, WGVU’s Veterans Engage Committee, West Michigan Veterans Coalition, and volunteers with Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), and serves on the steering committee for the statewide Consortium of Michigan Veterans Educators (CMVE).
