BOV is Back

Welcome Back Battle of the Valleys

On December 3rd, 2020, Student Senate voted to reinstate the philanthropic and competitive event known as Battle of the Valleys. Following this decision, Saginaw Valley State University's Student Association voted to re-adopt the agreement on December 7th, 2020. In October 2021, GVSU and SVSU will compete once again for the first time since 2018 in a competitive fundraising event and football game. Check back here for more information regarding upcoming events!

Battle of the Valleys Has a New Look

In July 2021, the Public Relations Committee along with SVSU's Student Association's Promotional Team conjointly created the new Battle of the Valleys Logo for the upcoming competition.

Meet Our Beneficiary

On July 19th, 2021, the 2021 Battle of the Valleys Beneficiary was officially announced to be i understand--love heals, a non-profit organization located in Ada, Michigan that aims to remove the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide as well as providing resources, education, and support to Western Michigan. The decision was worked on extensively by the Student Senate Cabinet, lead by the External Relations and Campus Affairs committees.

Battle of the Valleys Fundraising Week Events

BOV events

Destress and Dance (Zumba Event): Come spend a Sunday morning dancing with a former Zumba instructor. Dance to songs by Cardi B, Bad Bunny, and Pitbull and some of today’s hits. It is a great way to destress before the week begins and have fun with friends!

Battle of the Valleys Opening Bash: Come join us on the North Library Lawn for music, yard games and food trucks! Visit with Student Senate, different student organizations, and learn more about Battle of the Valley’s, our beneficiary, and the BOV events throughout the week!

Karaoke Battle-Off: Gather a group of friends to watch and participate in a Karaoke Battle-Off, benefitting our beneficiary. Multiple teams will compete by performing different karaoke songs, while the audience will determine the winner at the end of the show. Don’t miss out!

Yoga for Everyone: Come relax your body, your mind, and relieve stress/anxiety with us at Battle of the Valleys yoga. Our trained professional will guide you through all the benefits of yoga while supporting our beneficiary, i understand-love heals.

Trivia Night: Get together some friends and show off your trivia knowledge with us during trivia night! Join us for fun and engaging night to show off who truly knows the most!

Tie-Dye Day: Come with friends to tie dye shirts and have fun all while raising money for i understand, love heals. Take one of our shirts or bring your own clothes to tie dye! Don’t miss out on a fun time!

Friendly Feud: team up with 3-4 of your friends for some friendly competition and compete for a Laker Store swag package with a “Family Feud” template!

Mental Health Walk: Any and all are invited to come to join us in the Mental Health Walk on October 1st from 8-9 am around the beautiful Allendale Campus. The University Counseling Center will be tabling at the beginning and end of the route! Join us to destress, start your morning off right, and wrap up the Battle of the Valleys week!

 

 

 

Battle of the Valleys Draws to a Close

At the end of Battle of the Valleys Week, Student Senate travelled to Saginaw Valley State University to attend the Battle of the Valleys football game! At halftime, Student Senate announced that we raised over $3,500 for our beneficiary, i understand-love heals. We are so happy to have Battle of the Valleys back on our campuses and are excited for the competition to continue next year.
