Ethics Bowl Team Awarded at Regional Competition

The GVSU Ethics Bowl Team sent two teams to the Great Lakes Regionals at Oakland University on Saturday, November 16. Out of 13 teams, Grand Valley's Team Two (Kayla Kechler, Jessica Shaltry, Anna Stewart, and Mallory Wietrzykowski) placed third and Team One (Abbie Branderhorst, Kennedi Rainey, Carly Vaitekvicius, and Richard Vegh) placed fourth. Both teams had a 3-1 finish at Regionals, which secures them a spot at the National Ethics Bowl Competition for the second year in a row. The national competition will take place on February 22-23, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Ethics Bowl Team is a student organization dedicated to researching and discussing ethically difficult cases, including climate change, privacy in the age of social media, vaccinations, and religious freedom. The group works in collaboration with the Philosophy Department and the Speech Lab to help them prepare for their competitions. For more information about Ethics Bowl, visit the Ethics Bowl webpage.
