July 16, 2020
GVSU students Sam Jacobs and Kayla Sosa wrote a piece that was featured in a Forbes Magazine article titled How Student Civic Leaders Across the Country are Preparing for an Unprecedented Semester. Jacobs and Sosa write about how they’re working to increase civic engagement and democratic involvement at GVSU. They state that the GVSU Campus Democratic Engagement Coalition is committed to four outcome areas: voter registration, voter education, voter turnout, and civility and dialogue. They use these initiatives to guide their practices and ensure that they’re providing helpful voting information to the Grand Valley community. Grand Valley is a member of the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge which promotes voting initiatives on college campuses around the country.
Jacobs and Sosa both work with the GVSU Campus Democratic Engagement Coalition to help educate Grand Valley students about the importance and impact of voting, as well as helping students get registered.
