Battle of the Valleys
September 26, 2017
Battle of the Valleys is more than just a game, more than school pride, more than who raises the most money. This annual charity competition against Saginaw Valley State University is about helping kids, which is what the Laker Children’s Fund is all about. Primarily coordinated by students, the Laker Children’s Fund was started in 2014 and awards mini grants of up to $5,000 to organizations specialized in childhood growth and wellbeing in the Kent and Ottawa county communities. This fundraiser is a great way for Lakers to help give back, which is one of the components of being a Laker for a Lifetime.
There are many fundraisers going on next week such as apparel sales, Pie Day, Sunset Yoga at the Clocktower, and more. Battle of the Valleys starts at 12 a.m. on Sunday, September 24 and lasts until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, September 29. The winner will be announced on Saturday, September 30 at 7 p.m. at the football game.
