ArtPrize 101

September 26, 2017

ArtPrize, one of the biggest art competitions in the world, is here in Grand Rapids! Artists from around the world create and share their masterpieces with the general public. ArtPrize is going into its ninth year, and there are so many great things happening downtown. The best place to start is at one of the ArtPrize HUBs where you’ll be able to:

  • Sign up to vote for your favorite entry
  • Get a free Event Guide
  • Get help—from finding specific venues to recommendations for lunch
  • Receive a free Meijer tote (while supplies last)

As a Grand Valley student, you can get around downtown for free by utilizing the Rapid to enjoy all the local art venues and outdoor pieces. If you didn’t know, Grand Valley also submits some of its art pieces for ArtPrize. This year we submitted the “Three Sisters,” a three-dimensional piece located downtown near the John F. Kennedy Hall of Engineering and the Eberhard Center. Check out the submission online for more information.

ArtPrize is going on right now and runs until October 8. Make sure that you set aside some time before then to go downtown, see some art, and enjoy great local food and souvenir vendors. For more information about ArtPrize, visit the ArtPrize website and explore all 175 venues.
