Davia Downey (aka Prof D) is an Assistant Professor of Public Administration and Director of the MPA program

Professor Downey teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in local politics, public policy and public administration. Professor Downey is active in the American Society of Public Administration, and has served as a board member for the Capital Area chapter for over three years. she is also a member of the Urban Affairs Association, the American Political Science Association, the Midwest Political Science Association, and the International City/County Managers Association. She was nominated as IFC Professor of the Month at GVSU during her second semester at GVSU and currently serves as the faculty advisor for Pencils of Promise campus club. Prior to joining the faculty at GVSU in 2011, Professor Downey served as a research and graduate assistant for the Global Urban Studies Program at Michigan State University.
Professor Downey holds a PhD in political science from Michigan State University (2011), a Masters of Public Administration from Eastern Michigan University (2005) and a BA in music performance from Albion College (1999).
