A message from our Director
Colleagues, Students, Alumni, and Friends:
On behalf of our many wonderful faculty and staff, it’s my pleasure to welcome you to the School of Communications. Our mission is to integrate liberal and professional education in order to educate students to possess essential communication skills and to be critical, self-reflective communication professionals and contributing members of society. With over 1,100 majors and nearly 70 full- and part-time faculty, we are one of the largest academic units at GVSU, offering undergraduate programs in Communication Studies, Health Communication, Advertising and Public Relations, and Multimedia Journalism. We also offer an M.S. in Communications—a versatile program that addresses various aspects of professional communication.
You may notice a few changes this year. Our students and colleagues in Photography and Film & Video Production have joined the Department of Visual and Media Arts, and the Theatre program is now housed in the Music, Theatre, and Dance Department. If you have questions regarding these programs, please contact their new departments. For anything else, please feel free to contact me or the School of Communications office staff at (616) 331-3668. We’re happy to help!
