Initiatives

●  Encourage the attendance of workshops, certifications, and courses in relevant areas, including both technical skills and leadership development.

●  Develop a structured mentorship and onboarding program that includes goal-setting, meeting frequency, and progress tracking.

●  Offer a training session on how to write effective self-reflection reports and interpret student evaluations.

●  Encourage faculty to engage in activities that support excellence in teaching and research, aligning with best practices and standards outlined in Faculty Personnel documents.

●  Prepare faculty and staff to take on administrative and leadership roles, e.g., offer workshops, mentoring, and succession planning.

●  Encourage faculty and staff to participate in college committees and task forces as appropriate.

●  Review the structure of administrative and leadership roles to be attractive with respect to release time, additional compensation, recognition, and progress toward promotion and tenure.

●  Develop clear criteria in evaluation and promotion (as well as annual review and salary adjustment) policies that acknowledge teaching, research, and service contributions fairly.

●  Create a well-attended “Lightning Talks” lunch series where faculty and staff can share their current research, teaching, or projects with others.

●  Encourage joint initiatives (e.g., tenure-track, affiliate, and staff members) and promote a culture of respect and appreciation.

●  Create an internal newsletter highlighting faculty and staff accomplishments and personal stories.

●  Create a committee composed of faculty and staff that promotes a sense of belonging through informal social activities and acknowledgment of life milestones.
