Basic Scribe Assessment
Welcome to the Basic Scribe Assessment site. This was developed to meet requests from the community to evaluate current healthcare staff performing medical scribe duties. The medical scribe role has advanced in professional practice expectations as a result of CMS and JACHO guidelines. This tool serves to provide staff and managers feedback on current knowledge and proficiency based on a model of professional medical scribe standards. Basic scribe knowledge is assessed broadly to apply to medical offices without specialty inferences.
Upon completion of the basic scribe assessment, the test taker and manager will be provided a report showing levels of competency on the following domains: medical scribe role (CMS and JACHO guidelines), medical terminology including body systems, typing and transcription of physical exam and medical decision making, documentation standards, billing and coding, and HIPAA.
The assessment is 100 questions with a combined audio transcription test for typing and grammar accuracy. Duration 1 hour. It is housed in GVSU's learning management system, Blackboard, and is completed online.
Managers may register their staff using the online application form.
A member of the GVSU Scribe Academy team will respond within 3 business days with directions and assessment test login credentials.
$100.00 per test
GVSU will invoice the company and cost center shared in the registration form.
