GVSU Mourns the Loss of Charles Sorensen

Charles spent his professional life as a historian, scholar, and administrator. His first position teaching history was in a junior high school in Denver. After graduate school he taught at Tri-State College in Angola, Ind., and Grand Valley State University. Sorensen’s career then took a turn toward higher education administration. He served as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at GVSU, provost and vice president for academic affairs at Winona State University, and, finally, as chancellor at UW-Stout from 1988 to 2014.
