Although this role is steeped in bicycling, bicycling is only the vehicle for which students will take away practical experience that will further develop them as professionals, regardless of their industry. This experience includes: interpersonal communication, staff management, teaching & instruction, creative problem solving, and risk management. The Bike Shop intern plays a vital role in the daily operations of the Bike Shop and the growth of a budding community at GVSU. One internship will be available each semester.

Qualifications / Requirements
The ideal applicant will embody the Outdoor Adventures vision of inspiring lifelong adventure and exemplify our core values of: leadership, learning, community, exploration, & safety.
- A passion for bicycles and spreading the joys of bicycling with the GVSU community.
- High personal standards, are organized, responsible, respectful, and creative.
- A hard worker, with a positive attitude, and willing to be mentored should apply. Training is provided.
- Bike maintenance, retail sales, and/ or teaching/ coaching experiences are a plus.
- An adult CPR, First Aid, AED certification are required (training provided).

Compensation
- Unpaid position. However, working within our department is not without perks.
- Opportunity may be available to receive funding to offset costs for attendance of professional development/ networking events. RecWell student staff are eligible to receive a free Group Exercise membership. In addition, staff within the Outdoor Adventures program may rent outdoor gear for personal use (backpacks, tents, hammocks, sleeping bags, etc..) free of charge.

- What goals you hope to achieve or experiences you would like to gain at an internship opportunity.
- Internship advisor information. Including any specific requirements that must be met by the internship supervisor.
