New Research Compliance Specialist

We are pleased to announce that Stacey Gardner has recently joined the Office of Research Compliance and Integrity as a Research Compliance Specialist. She began working in research compliance in 2009 and obtained the CIP credential (Certified IRB Professional) in 2012. Stacey was an IRB member with the Spectrum Health IRB from 2012-2017, where her primary focus was minimal risk research. Her current focus is on HRRC operations and assisting researchers with questions about protecting human subjects in research. She is also interested in conducting research on research, and has published an abstract in a peer-reviewed medical journalĀ [Jones JS, Gardner S, Wilson BS, Faber A, Fleeger TJ. Retrospective Research Protocols: Where Are the Methods? Acad Emerg Med 2017; 24 (S1):776]. A second manuscript assessing delays in IRB approval is pending acceptance and publication.

Stacey served 8 years in the U.S. Army as a 92Y (unit supply specialist), including working as an armorer for an infantry unit and as a physical security inspector for the National Guard armories in Michigan. She used the GI Bill to obtain her undergraduate degree in business from Davenport University.
