Description

Thursday, October 17th GVSU is hosting the Trauma & Resilience Conference at the Eberhard Center. This is a great opportunity to learn from leaders in the field and dive into critical issues related to trauma, resilience, and mental health that directly impact psychology practice.

We’re bringing together experts who are doing transformative work in the areas of trauma and poverty:

Marcella Wilson, author of Diagnosis: Poverty and creator of the Transition to Success model, which redefines poverty as a treatable condition. Her model is used nationwide to coordinate care across sectors and support individuals and families facing poverty.

Velshonna Luckey, Executive Director of the Self-Healing Communities of Michiana, leads a movement that uses science-based approaches (NEAR-P Science) to reduce trauma and toxic stress while fostering resilience in communities.

Dr. Jim Henry, founder of the Children’s Trauma Assessment Center at Western Michigan University, has helped countless children and families overcome trauma. His recent work includes supporting the Oxford School community after the 2021 shooting, focusing on collective healing and resilience.
