Sayantoni Mukhopadhyay

Sayantoni Mukhopadhyay

Sayantoni Mukhopadhyay moved to Chicago upon graduation with her degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, where she is now a research specialist in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Her laboratory specializes in Alzheimer’s disease and traumatic brain injury. The grueling nucleic acids laboratory sessions, where she received hands-on training and research experience, was her favorite section of the PSM program. A memorable moment was dissecting a pig heart in the cell and tissue lab course. During her internship with Dr. Sok Kean Khoo, she learned that you need to be patient in the lab and that you’ll need to repeat experiments until you get the technique correct. She hopes to eventually pursue her Ph.D. or find a permanent position in the industry.
