Suzeanne Benet

Suzeanne Benet began her appointment as Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs in January of 2016 and now serves as Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.  In her role she has many responsibilities:  she oversees academic advising, is responsible for the mySuccessCheck survey, responds to student and parent concerns, serves on the university Retention Committee, oversees the university’s community engagement initiatives and supports a variety of other initiatives designed to help students succeed.  She also represents the Office of the Provost on many committees dedicated to efforts connected to student academic success.

Dr. Benet received her Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  She was on the business school faculty at DePaul University in Chicago before joining the faculty at GVSU in 1992.  As a faculty member she taught a variety of marketing classes, both graduate and undergraduate, and developed several courses, including the Marketing Ethics and the Creativity undergraduate courses, and the Public Policy and Marketing graduate course.  She has had articles published in the Journal of Advertising Research, Marketing Health Services, the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of Business Ethics and others.  Dr. Benet was the chair for the department of Marketing in the Seidman College of Business for almost 14 years, and has also served on numerous college and university committees.
